Toronto Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Meeting Against defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.

The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first World Series after the 1993 season by beating the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the ALCS.

Down 3-1, the star outfielder smashed a three-run blast in the seventh frame, propelling the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 triumph in the series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the anticipated championship.

"I'm just so happy for this squad, the city, the nation," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now hit 23 post-season home runs, making him third in history after Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another player in the world that I'd prefer in that spot besides him with his playoff prowess," remarked manager John Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the early in the series, are still the one club yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's going to sting" in the wake of his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their work in the campaign.

"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we ended up on the wrong side of this game," he added.

The Blue Jays secured the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
