The Oscars to Depart Broadcast TV and Stream on YouTube Beginning in 2029.

The Academy Awards are set to start airing only on YouTube in the year 2029, marking the most recent major transformation in the film industry.

The organization behind the Oscars revealed the news on this week, indicating that it finalized a long-term agreement giving the streaming service the unique international license to the Oscars until 2033.

The awards show, which is planned for March 15th, has been broadcast for a half a century on the traditional network. Commencing in 2029, the show will be accessible in real-time without charge on YouTube.

It's one more substantial restructuring in the entertainment world, which is navigating company buyouts and fusions, in addition to steep reductions in filming.

"Our Academy represents an worldwide body, and this alliance will enable us to increase availability to the mission of the Academy to the most extensive international crowd attainable - which will be beneficial for our film artists and the film community," said the Academy's executives in a release.

The broadcast network, which has aired the ceremony since the mid-1970s, stated that it was eagerly anticipating "to the upcoming broadcasts" it will still host.

This shift coincides with large entertainment companies deal with complex corporate battles. These potential deals were considered concerning for an business that has experienced severe reductions over the recent period.

Similar to major studios, cable networks have faced issues as the viewers has chosen streaming services as an alternative.

YouTube winning the license to the Academy Awards further suggests that dependence on streaming sites will carry on increasing.
