The former Liverpool manager says coming back to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.
The German coach, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that returning someday remains an option. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful near-decade reign that included continental glory and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, has since taken on roles in a global football capacity for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
Liverpool won the Premier League under Arne Slot, but many fans who revere Klopp would welcome the possibility that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he told his interviewer: “I declared I will never coach any other side on English soil. Which implies in case it's my former club...yes. It's plausible.”
“Being 58, which suggests I could make the decision down the line, who knows. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I can just see what lies ahead.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Pressed on which situations must arise to tempt his return to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing during downpours through long matches; I'm glad to skip press conferences four times, three times a week or doing numerous chats weekly.
“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the team talking freely, that’s nice. We won a lot of games thus frequently positive atmosphere in the building. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter in my ear as an instance.”
Commending Arne Slot
He spoke highly for his successor, praising him for the adjustments that won the league last campaign. Liverpool have lost a string of losses in every contest following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the notion it could be a slump.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. An outstanding player. Ekitike, superb talent. This is a well-built balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, things will improve.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
He shared movingly regarding the passing of Jota, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The forward was killed in a vehicle collision with his brother this past summer.
“Can you substitute a person like him? It goes beyond his footballing ability, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the squad absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly on this topic. A devastating blow for his teammates also. No one within the club will ever use it for poor performances but it is the situation. Being in that space where he was omnipresent. Handling this individually is not easy. Impossible.”
