It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The top summits have already been conquered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has accomplished all there is.

It needed up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it's been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," stated Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her great strength - and a priceless quality in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her quickest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

By the time she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if we do, we know we can do it."

That comment will be the last rival teams at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.
