Person That Touched Ariana Grande at Film Launch Prohibited from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who jumped past a barrier and reached for actress Ariana Grande has been sent away and banned from Singapore.
The individual, 26, was given a sentence to more than a week in jail for being a public nuisance and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," the country's border control told Singaporean press.
Wen pushed past photographers and approached aggressively the performer and artist, who was attending the regional launch for the film on November 13. Co-performer Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.
He has a background of causing disturbances at events and high-profile gatherings, including leaping onto the platform at the pop star's Australian show in the past June.
The occurrence caused anger in Singapore, with many claiming he of triggering past trauma for the singer.
The singer has discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a explosive incident at her show in the UK city in May 2017 killed 22 people and hurt numerous attendees.
Throughout the court proceedings, the court heard he had made efforts to breach on the red carpet event on two occasions, according to regional reports.
He then made a another effort to jump the barricades. Security staff intercepted him and pinned him down.
Wen later posted video clips thanking Grande for allowing his presence and said he was "released."
Law enforcement took him into custody the following day and brought charges against him with public nuisance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.
The District Judge the judicial official was quoted by Channel News Asia as stating that Wen was "attention seeking", noting that he was mistaken to believe he would not face any penalties.
The singer has not commented on the situation.
The co-star mentioned the event to the press, remarking that she "just wanted to verify my friend was safe."
"I believe he didn't intend us danger, but you cannot be certain with these incidents, and I aimed to ensure that she was alright. That was my initial reaction," she commented.
