Line of Duty Confirmed for Seventh Season on BBC
The beloved crime series Line of Duty will make a comeback for its 7th installment, confirmed by the broadcaster.
An upcoming six-episode series written by Jed Mercurio starts production in Northern Ireland in the coming months, according to the network.
The actress expressed excitement about the return, saying she was "thrilled" about the show's renewal. Adrian Dunbar remarked, "How wonderful it is to know that the Three Amigos will be reuniting together next year."
The previous series wrapped up in 2021 with a finale that drew in more than 17 million viewers. Speculation about a new season have been widespread for some time, but confirmation only arrived recently.
Fresh Obstacles for The Team
The seventh season will open with the anti-corruption unit having been disbanded and rebranded as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, as revealed by production details.
Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure's role, and Adrian Dunbar's part continue working to tackle misconduct within the law enforcement.
Their work "faces unprecedented challenges", and in this climate, the trio will take on their "most sensitive case so far."
Fresh Face and Intricate Plot
A new character, DI Dominic Gough, portrayed as a charismatic officer celebrated for busts of organized crime, is accused of misusing his authority to become a offender.
Yet, this investigation could be a deliberate distraction from a bigger threat still operating in the background, the teaser hinted.
Speaking about the renewal, Jed Mercurio said: "All cast and crew feels enormous gratitude to the dedicated viewers."
"We're privileged to have had countless fans track the developments of the unit over six previous seasons and we are thrilled to be returning for a seventh season."
Mercurio continued: "Corruption in this country is supposed to have ended while the series was not airing, so I've been compelled to use my imagination."

The Scottish actor called appearing in the series as "the role of a career".
"Beyond the program's popularity but the people I've collaborated with I now call some of my closest friends."
"I'm excited to pull the waistcoat on again and reunite with everyone," he said.

Series Legacy
Line of Duty premiered in 2012 and evolved into a highly successful TV dramas of the past ten years, featuring notable actors such as Thandiwe Newton.
Broadcasters has not yet announced when the new season will hit screens.
The finale of season six brought the long-running storyline about the hunt for criminal mastermind known as "the mysterious H" to a close, and producers indicated at the moment there were no intentions for further series.
However, the corporation confirmed on this week that a seventh series is now being produced.
