Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
