Ariana Grande visited Singapore for the international debut of Wicked: For Good

Loyal supporters of the actress are calling for that a individual who jumped a barrier and seized the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be detained or removed from Singapore.

A viral footage depicts the individual from Australia pushing past camera operators and lunging at Grande while the actors walked down a promenade accompanied by onlookers.

Cast member Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the event by security officers.

Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "released after being detained", though court documents showed that he was scheduled to be present on the following morning. It is unknown if he was charged.

History of Disruptions

This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram account features recordings of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney show in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last winter.

"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is clearly a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.

"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user questioned.

Supporters Voice Worry Over the Star's Well-being

Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming hundreds.

"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said another response on Instagram.

Some fans also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while others requested online networks to ban Mr Wen's content.

Aftermath and Event Details

In videos shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was grabbed by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.

Grande has not commented on the situation, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.

Hundreds of Singapore fans had lined up to see the actors of Wicked

Hundreds of fans had gathered in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore venue, including a number who had queued for as long as eight hours before it commenced.

The movie, to be released on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-part adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End production Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely friendship between two distinct characters.

The musical itself is a derivative of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a rosé glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.

They were joined by co-star Jeff Goldblum.

The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of 2024 in the UK, and earned 10 Oscar nominations, securing two for best costume and production design.
